Autumn Bucket List

Autumn is my favourite season, and it’s finally here! Cosy nights in, binge watching TV shows under blankets, mugs of hot chocolate, darker nights, and the sound of rustling leaves wherever you walk. To celebrate the season, I’ve come up with a little bucket list to work my way through over the coming months!

So I finally joined the 21st century and got myself a Netflix account!

I know what you’re thinking, “WHAT has she been doing with her life?” Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love binge watching shows, but usually I spend all my cash on boxsets. I seriously pride myself on my DVD collection, but I’ve found a problem with splurging out on a boxset… I might not like it. This has happened to me twice recently, once with The Wire (I gave it 5 episodes but just couldn’t get into it, no matter how much I loved Idris Elba) and secondly with Girls (sorry, I know that’ll offend a lot of people).

A Message To The Maccabees…

It’s been just over a month since The Maccabees called it a day. When I read the letter to their fans breaking the news, I felt sick. Physically sick. ‘They’re just a band’ was echoed in numerous conversations, but to me they weren’t just a band. I’ve never felt so passionate about anyone, or anything, as much as I have about The Maccabees. Music is sometimes the best form of medicine, so whenever I’m feeling down I tend to turn to my iPod or records. The Maccabees were the band I always turned to no matter what, and in a way, I guess they’re like my comfort blanket. I’ve grown alongside their music, and they’ve basically been the soundtrack to my coming of age.

To Boldly Go… MAC Make Up Haul!

MAC is one of my favourite make up brands AND I’m a huge geek, so when I found out that they were teaming up with Star Trek for a collection just in time for the 50th anniversary of the franchise, to say I was happy is an understatement!

Out of the 25-piece offering, which ranges from false eyelashes to nail lacquer, I decided to order myself 2 lipsticks, a lipglass and a pressed pigment eye shadow. I loved glancing through the collection and allowing my geeky side to be excited by some of the quotes used to name the products, like ‘LLAP’ (Live Long And Prosper) and ‘Khaaannnn!’ which I immediately screamed, channeling my inner Spock.

Fresh from a busy summer headlining Evolution Emerging and supporting Primal Scream, Newcastle alt-rockers A Festival, A Parade have announced the forthcoming release of their brand new single ‘If Dogs Could Talk…’

Their sound evokes comparisons to the likes of Frightened Rabbit and The National, and the four-piece made up of Joe Allan (vocals, guitar), Reece Spencer (lead guitar), Ollie Winn (bass) and Liam Tellum (drums) have been championed by many in the North East, and listening to this song it’s pretty easy to see why.

Character Crush: Chibs Telford

sons-of-anarchy-june-wedding

I know Sons of Anarchy finished back in 2014 but I was pretty late to the party when it came to the show, only watching it for the first time at the end of last year. After bingeing it in a rather short space of time, it became possibly my favourite TV series that I’ve watched. I mean, what’s there not to like about a series with a cast ensemble of attractive hairy men…in leather…riding motorbikes?!
