Last night I took a trip to Northampton, London and Milan all via the wonderful Stockton Globe for the opening night of Kinky Boots The Musical!

Let me start by telling you that before I entered the theatre yesterday, I knew nothing about Kinky Boots. I’d often seen the red boots image dotted about theatres or social media and thought ‘oooh that looks fun’ but didn’t actually know the story.
That made it all the more exciting as I had no idea what was about to unfold before my eyes…
After inheriting his Dad’s failing shoe factory, and with a relationship on the rocks, life isn’t looking that great for Charlie Price- that is until he meets the fabulous drag queen Lola! Together they set out to save the struggling business by getting into a ‘niche’ market- designing a women’s boot to support a man’s weight!
From start to finish the show had me gripped and I’m pretty sure I felt every emotion going. The story has so much heart and passion that truly comes across thanks to the wonderful cast. Speaking of the cast…

Johannes Radebe is obviously well known for his moves on the Strictly dance floor but who knew he had such an incredible voice?! His acting was so powerful and he portrayed both the fierce and vulnerable sides of Lola perfectly. I’m convinced he was actually born to play that role. I love him!
Rising star Dan Partridge delivered an excellent performance as Charlie, taking us on that journey from hesitant heir to hometown hero with powerful vocals in his heartfelt songs. Speaking of vocals though, let’s take a moment to shout out the amazing Courtney Bowman who delivered a stand out performance as lovely Lauren. Her singing honestly gave me goosebumps – what a range!
The whole cast all brought something to that stage, they were fabulous. A shout out to Scott Paige too as his comedic timing was on point.

Kinky Boots The Musical features a wonderful score by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. I really loved the set for the show, it works so well taking you from factory floor to Milan walkway in an instant!
Honestly the energy in this show is so infectious and the message is so important. It’s all about celebrating individuality and accepting people for who they are. Kinky Boots absolutely radiates positivity and happiness, and I left with a huge smile on my face. I need to go and watch the film now!
Kinky Boots is on at Stockton Globe until Saturday 3rd May 2025 and you can buy any remaining tickets here.
Huge thank you as always to the wonderful team at Stockton Globe for having me!
