When I was a teen my Friday nights consisted of heading down to the Dunes in Shields with the girls and spending hours playing game after game of bowling and drinking one two many J20’s! Fast forward 10+ years and bowling is still one of my favourite activities to do whether it’s with a big group of friends or for a date night. That’s why I was over the moon to be invited down to Newcastle’s brand new bowling spot, Gorilla!Continue reading
I took a little trip to Italy earlier this week when I headed along to the Metrocentre to visit the latest addition to their food quarter – Doppio Malto!
Known for its motto ‘un posto felice’ – a happy place – Doppio Malto offers a beautiful, vibrant setting with vivid coloured walls filled with art, cosy botanical corners and bright lights all around. A smile graced my face the moment I arrived, and I can tell you now it stayed there til I left.
I was invited along for an exclusive evening of beer tasting and menu sampling and let me tell you, I was not prepared for what went down…Continue reading
I think you’ll be seeing plenty of food posts on the blog this year, so let’s start it off with a visit to one of Newcastle’s newest spots – The Hustle!
Taking up residence in the old Tiger Tiger/Eden site at the heart of the city centre, the building has certainly had quite the glow up since I was last there. It has been transformed into a stunning bar, grill and disco lounge with an extensive drinks menu and an excellent New York style tapas menu.
Last week Adam and I were invited down to Newcastle’s brand new beer garden, Jesmond Beach Box, to check out the atmosphere and try out some food!
Situated behind The Holy Hobo, near As You Like It, Jesmond Beach Box boasts a huge outdoor hang out area with various street food vendors, bars and market stalls and it’s the perfect spot for summer get togethers.
I don’t know about you but I can be so stuck in my ways when it comes to eating out. I’m so indecisive that I find myself just going back to the same places for easiness unless someone else has organised the outing!
One thing I love about blogging though is that I’m lucky enough to be given the opportunity to eat at restaurants I possibly wouldn’t usually go to or know about, and it’s helping me get better at trying new places.
My most recent jaunt was to Beamish after being invited along to try food at the wonderful Stables Bar and Restaurant.
Back in July, Adam and I were invited along to the opening night of Cosy Club in Durham. The bar and restaurant has opened in the city as part of the new Riverwalk development and is the first branch to open in the North East! I visited Cosy Club in Liverpool last year with my friend Vic and we had a wonderful afternoon drinking cocktails, sharing a platter and playing Scrabble, so I was really excited to have one opening just up the road and to have been invited along!
