MAC is one of my favourite make up brands AND I’m a huge geek, so when I found out that they were teaming up with Star Trek for a collection just in time for the 50th anniversary of the franchise, to say I was happy is an understatement!
Out of the 25-piece offering, which ranges from false eyelashes to nail lacquer, I decided to order myself 2 lipsticks, a lipglass and a pressed pigment eye shadow. I loved glancing through the collection and allowing my geeky side to be excited by some of the quotes used to name the products, like ‘LLAP’ (Live Long And Prosper) and ‘Khaaannnn!’ which I immediately screamed, channeling my inner Spock.
These were two of the titles I actually bought. ‘LLAP’ was one of the two beautiful lipsticks that I chose. It has a lovely rose gold hue and is a sheer frost, which when it comes to MAC lipsticks, I’m not usually a fan of (I’m more of a matte kinda gal) but I was completely sold on this because of how subtle, yet flattering, it looks on my lips. The other lipstick I bought was ‘Where No Man Has Gone Before’ which is a lovely shade of pink with gold pearl in a lustre finish, which I adore, especially the way it sparkles when it catches the light!
When it came to the pressed pigment eye shadow I chose ‘Midnight’, which is a cobalt blue with pearl sparkle. When I first opened it, I was blown away by how beautiful the colour was, and how much it stood out. Sadly, I found it quite hard to work with when using it on my eyes dry. I tried it wet though, and found it much easier to use. The colour was more intense too, which I loved! My final purchase was the ‘Khaaannnn!’ lipglass. I’m not used to wearing gloss, but when I saw the product online the berry (with red reflect) colour really stood out for me, so I decided to give it a go…and I’m very glad I did! I was worried about it being too sticky, but I was happy with how it felt on my lips as it glided on very easily. The purple glitter also comes through really well, and gives a great sparkle.
All of these gorgeous products are available online and in store now, though some of them have sold out, so if you fancy looking fabulously futuristic, get in there quick.
Also, let me know if you’ve purchased any pieces from the collection. I’d love to know what you think!
