Summer Date at Jesmond Beach Box

Last week Adam and I were invited down to Newcastle’s brand new beer garden, Jesmond Beach Box, to check out the atmosphere and try out some food!

Situated behind The Holy Hobo, near As You Like It, Jesmond Beach Box boasts a huge outdoor hang out area with various street food vendors, bars and market stalls and it’s the perfect spot for summer get togethers.

This was our first real outing since lockdown restrictions have started to ease – we actually haven’t even really been to the shops these past few months – so honestly, we were a bit nervous. Jesmond Beach Box have excellent safety measures in place though including temperature checks on arrival, hand sanitiser stations and social distancing.

After checking in, we were taken to our seats under the stretch tent. Table service is available so we ordered some drinks then had a minute to check out what food was on offer! Food is available to order from The Holy Hobo or to purchase from the street food vendors on site, some of which include Hatch 76, Acropolis Street Food and The Pizza Van!

We decided to order from The Holy Hobo menu going for duck loaded fries, halloumi fries and the fiery sriracha pulled pork burger. I’ve heard great things in the past about The Holy Hobo but didn’t actually know where it was. I felt ancient when I realised it was what used to be Mr Lynch – I spent many of uni days in there drinking cocktails… I even had my 21st birthday party there! Anyway, it was good to try drinks, albeit mocktails (I had the car and it’s easy to park there btw) and some food.

The duck loaded fries were full of flavour, Adam loved the burger and we both thought that the halloumi fries were actually the best ones we’ve ever had! They had a great coating on them and were so moreish, not just plain and overhyped like others we’ve had in the past. Food and drinks are also really reasonably priced.

We also ended up purchasing some Holy Hobo donuts to take home, a Biscoff one and a Strawberry and Pistachio, which were priced at £2.95 each and the perfect sweet treat.

Thursday – Friday : 12pm – 10pm
Saturday – Sunday : 10am – 10pm

Thank you so much to Jesmond Beach Box for the invite, we had such a lovely afternoon and already can’t wait to visit again!
