GORILLA BAR AND BOWLING (AD)

When I was a teen my Friday nights consisted of heading down to the Dunes in Shields with the girls and spending hours playing game after game of bowling and drinking one two many J20’s! Fast forward 10+ years and bowling is still one of my favourite activities to do whether it’s with a big group of friends or for a date night. That’s why I was over the moon to be invited down to Newcastle’s brand new bowling spot, Gorilla!

Situated on the upper level of Eldon Square (just up from the food court), Gorilla Bar and Bowling opened its doors earlier this month and we were very kindly invited along to their launch night.

We headed up to the top floor where we were greeted by the lovely Lucy who handed us a glass of prosecco and told us all about the newest spot in town. I hadn’t even realised that there had previously been a bowling alley in the same space which had closed pre-lockdown. After a huge refurbishment Gorilla opened its doors though and it’s honestly amazing!

We headed straight to get set up on one of the lanes and enjoyed a couple of games of bowling alongside other guests. Music was playing, drinks were flowing and I was winning… what more could a gal ask for?!

I tell you what… a SLUSH. Yep that’s right, there’s a slush machine. Absolutely buzzing like a child!

It’s not just bowling that Gorilla has to offer though, there are a number of other activities that you can book or take part in including arcade games, pool, darts and table tennis! It’s the perfect place for anyone to enjoy no matter what your age.

If you’re looking to make more of a night of it then you’ll be happy to know that Gorilla has a fully licensed bar serving a range of cocktails, spirits and beers from Anarchy Brew Co and you can also play a game of beer pong! One thing that Lucy said which peeked my interest was that there will be some karaoke booths opening very soon, so make sure you keep an eye out for them!

If you end up feeling a little peckish while you’re there then My Delhi have got you covered. I was so excited to finally give their food a try as I’ve still not actually been to their restaurant, so this was a definite treat for me! Their menu has a range of dishes to choose from including curry bowls, naan pizzas and burgers. I’m a huge poutine fan so I was very happy to try their take on the classic Canadian dish done with butter chicken which I’m STILL thinking about now.

We honestly had a brilliant night at Gorilla from start to finish. It’s in the perfect location in the middle of town and ideal for any kind of occasion. I can’t wait to get the gang together and head back! Huge thanks to the team again for a great event!

** Full disclosure: All food and drinks were kindly gifted to us by Gorilla. (AD)
