I don’t know about you but I love a trip out for a good Sunday roast.
Last week we were invited down to Bella’s, located in the wonderful Customs House, to check out their Sunday lunch menu. A perfect treat for January!

Adam and I love a little jaunt to Seaham on a weekend so I was really excited to be invited along to The ARMourY to grab a drink and try some food from their new menu!

Earlier this year, Sunderland was named the best city in the UK for independent restaurants and it honestly comes as no surprise. We’re so lucky to have so many wonderful eateries in the area and one that we visited recently is Marcellos!

We’re a little way through June now, finally starting to get the good weather and I can’t wait for the summer to fully begin, but let me tell you – I absolutely LOVED the month of May! It was full of fun and full of bank holidays. I could definitely get used to having 3 of them a month…
On May 7th, we were invited along to Tyne Bank Brewery for their bank holiday Sunday sesh with The Cuban Brothers and let me tell you, it’s not a night I’ll be forgetting anytime soon.

If you’re ever contemplating changing your diet to plant-based, Veganuary is often the best time to do it. Veganuary is an annual challenge that encourages people to follow a vegan lifestyle for the first month of the year but of course, you can dip your toe into the vegan lifestyle any time that suits you!
Now I’m a big food lover and, predominantly, a meat eater but with having friends who are vegetarian and vegan, I’ve started to broaden my horizons a little more and dabble in plant-based cooking but hadn’t really taken the plunge to eat vegan whilst eating out.
Back in January I teamed up with This Is Durham to visit five of the best restaurants that Durham City has to offer and check out the vegan options they had available and let me tell you – they didn’t disappoint!

Back in the Summer Adam and I headed along to The Engine Inn, Walbottle, for Sunday lunch and it’s easily the best roast I’ve had! I’ve been desperate to head back so was over the moon to be invited along with the family last week for a tasting night of their brand new winter menu which has just launched.

Sunderland Restaurant Week, organised by Sunderland BID, is returning 17th-25th September and I was lucky enough to have a little preview and sample some scran from 3 of the eateries taking part!
If you’re unaware of the event, Sunderland Restaurant Week allows a whole host of restaurants and cafes across the city to show off their menus whilst giving visitors a chance to dine for £5, £10 or £15pp. We have been lucky to see so many new restaurants open this past year, so if you haven’t had a chance to visit some of them yet – this might be your perfect opportunity!

On the preview night, we visited 3 venues for starter, main and dessert. Those venues were My Delhi, The Engine Room and Grinder Central. Now let me tell you aaaaall about it…

When I was a teen my Friday nights consisted of heading down to the Dunes in Shields with the girls and spending hours playing game after game of bowling and drinking one two many J20’s! Fast forward 10+ years and bowling is still one of my favourite activities to do whether it’s with a big group of friends or for a date night. That’s why I was over the moon to be invited down to Newcastle’s brand new bowling spot, Gorilla!

I took a little trip to Italy earlier this week when I headed along to the Metrocentre to visit the latest addition to their food quarter – Doppio Malto!
Known for its motto ‘un posto felice’ – a happy place – Doppio Malto offers a beautiful, vibrant setting with vivid coloured walls filled with art, cosy botanical corners and bright lights all around. A smile graced my face the moment I arrived, and I can tell you now it stayed there til I left.
I was invited along for an exclusive evening of beer tasting and menu sampling and let me tell you, I was not prepared for what went down…

I think you’ll be seeing plenty of food posts on the blog this year, so let’s start it off with a visit to one of Newcastle’s newest spots – The Hustle!
Taking up residence in the old Tiger Tiger/Eden site at the heart of the city centre, the building has certainly had quite the glow up since I was last there. It has been transformed into a stunning bar, grill and disco lounge with an extensive drinks menu and an excellent New York style tapas menu.
