Hello, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I’ve sadly neglected my blog over the Christmas period due to busy schedule and work commitments, but I’m sure I’ll learn to organise myself and my time with posts as my blog grows.
I thought I’d do a post here to say hello, and to do a little recap on 2016 before I fully throw myself into the new year. Don’t worry, I’ll keep it brief!
After quite a bit of deliberation I decided that my top 5 films of the year were…
Ben Wheatley is a superb filmmaker, and the cast for this film was huge. The film was sickening, and I loved it (I haven’t read the novel, mind). I can’t wait for his film Free Fire this year. Portishead do an INCREDIBLE cover of ABBA ‘SOS’ for the film too. Check it out immediately.
4. Star Trek Beyond
I’m a huge fan of Star Trek, and a real lover of the newer films. I thought the story for Beyond was great, and I truly love the cast together. The release followed just after the tragic death of Anton Yelchin, which broke my heart. His portrayal of Chekov in the trilogy was just brilliant.
Deadpool was one of the films I was most excited about going into 2016, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Brilliantly shot, and Ryan Reynolds was the perfect choice to play the merc with a mouth! Can’t wait for the sequel. The marketing campaign was also a definite 10/10.
2. Nocturnal Animals
The film is exceptionally shot, which you might have expected with a designer behind the camera. Once again the cast were phenomenal, and their performances left me feeling sick to my stomach. I couldn’t talk for a good few minutes after I’d left the cinema!
1. Captain America: Civil War
This probably comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone who knows me. I was counting down the days for Civil War, and wouldn’t stop talking about it in the months leading up to the release. It was UNREAL. I saw the film 4 times at the cinema, and I honestly couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve watched it since it’s dvd release. Put it this way though, there was one week where I actually watched it 6 days in a row…and one of those days, I watched it twice.
Honourable mentions for fave films of 2016 also go to: The Bronze, Arrival, and David Brent: Life On The Road.
Ok, so this one is basically just a reminder that I decided on my top 25 crushes of 2016 and wrote a post about it which you can swoon over here!
Rather than me harp on about my favourite songs of the year, I’ve put together one of my ‘Sounds of…’ playslists for 2016 for you to listen yourself. Hopefully some of your favourite songs will be in there too!
There we have it, I told you I’d keep the recap brief!
I’m ready to throw myself into 2017 now. I’ve been compiling a bucket list the past couple weeks of things I’d like to do this year, so expect a post on that verrrrrry soon.
