Spring is usually the season which fills me with optimism and energy but it’s fair to say I’ve been lacking in both lately and it’s had a real impact on my productivity – though I’m sure with everything going on in the world, I’m not the only one. I’ve abandoned the blog for a few months now after having no real motivation to write but after a little brainstorming session this weekend, I’m ready to jump back in.
I’ve decided to ease myself in with a nice little post on my TV show recommendations to watch during lockdown, inspired by Miss Catherine Mitchell’s post!
Here we go…
If you’ve followed my blog or twitter for a while, you’ll know that Gossip Girl is one of my top 3 favourite tv shows EVER! I try and rewatch it a couple of times each year and I’m currently rewatching at the moment as Adam finally admitted defeat and decided to give it a go. We’re onto season 3 now and though he may not admit it, he’s definitely enjoying it. A brilliant drama with so many twists and turns – if you’ve watched it already, then check out my previous post on my top 10 episodes!
Modern Family is one of those shows where I watched the early seasons then only ever caught the odd episode after that, but it has always made me laugh. Earlier this year I decided to watch it from the beginning and honestly on more than one occasion I thought I was going to burst a lung laughing! It’s a show where you completely fall in love with the characters and find yourself comparing members of your own family to them. It’s absolutely brilliant and I need to gear myself up for the final season now (sad face).
I know he’s a bit like marmite, but I am a huge Ricky Gervais fan and think that everything he does is absolutely genius – After Life is no exception. I adored series one but I have to be honest, I haven’t watched series two yet… I sadly lost my Grandma earlier this year and don’t think I’m ready to put myself through it yet, but I know when I do I’ll laugh and cry in equal measure.
Parks and Recreation
Parks and Rec is one of THEE funniest shows I’ve ever watched. I find myself quoting it so much! A brilliant cast with an excellent set of characters – I could watch this series over and over again. Absolutely class.
Since getting Disney Plus, Adam and I have been working our way through The Simpsons from the beginning and it’s been great! It’s a show that reminds me of my childhood so I’ve been feeling so nostalgic watching the first few seasons, and I’m excited to carry on going as I don’t think I’ve seen many of the latter ones! It’s a classic.
Sons of Anarchy
Sons of Anarchy is another favourite show of mine. It’s brutal, it’s dramatic, the characters are incredible and I literally couldn’t take my eyes off it the whole way through (and not just because of Charlie Hunnam – wink wink). It’s also got a cracking soundtrack that I still listen to loads now. Mint.
I’m surprised I haven’t already written a blog post about BoJack Horseman. I happened upon it when I was going through a Will Arnett swooning phase a couple years ago and I’m so glad I did. It’s one of the cleverest, most important shows I think I’ve ever watched. It’s a brave show which tackles issues of depression, anxiety and loneliness incredibly well, and considering the main character is an animated horse, is incredibly human. A must see in my eyes.
Other recommendations include: New Girl, That 70’s Show, Friends, Desperate Housewives, anything RuPaul related, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Marvel’s Daredevil and The Punisher, and Arrested Development.
