December: The Debrief

I know we’re nearly 2 weeks into 2023 but HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s been a busy start hence the reason my final debrief of last year is late but also – I posted every single one of them late last year so why change that habit now?! I’ve really enjoyed writing my monthly debriefs so I’m sure you’ll be happy to know that I plan on keeping them going this year. With that in mind, let’s reflect on the last month of 2022…it was pretty Christmas heavy!

BINGE WATCHED CHRISTMAS FILMS

December called for a lot of weekends and evenings snuggled up on the settee watching classic Christmas films alongside proper cheesy ones! A personal fave was the new Lindsay Lohan one, Falling For Christmas. Bloody mint man and just what I needed on a cold Saturday afternoon. Also Strawberry Fanta is a game changer.

CHRISTMAS SHINDIG

In 2021 to celebrate the first Christmas in our house we decided to throw a festive party for all our friends. Anyway it was mint so we decided that actually, the Burgess-Lawson Christmas shindig would become become an annual event! It was so lush to have all our nearest and dearest pals over for food, drinks and laughs while the Crimbo tunes played in the background.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (SERVICE)

I headed along to St Michael and All Angels Church with Adam and my parents on Christmas Eve and it was such a wonderful service. It was such a lovely evening and quite magical being in the Church where we’ll be getting married in a matter of months! A good excuse to practice our singing…

WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING

Here’s what I was watching in December.

1- STRANGE WORLD
Boxing Day afternoon called for a chill and film sesh so we decided to watch the new Disney animation Strange World on Disney Plus! It’s got a great cast behind it and a good little story – I need my own Splat!!

2- GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY
Now I was a HUGE fan of the first Knives Out film but Glass Onion – omg it was EVEN better! Another brilliant ensemble and Daniel Craig was unreal returning again as Benoit Blanc.

3- NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS VACATION
Honestly right, it’s not Christmas until I’ve watched National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! One of the best Christmas films out there and no matter how many times I watch it, it’s never not funny. In fact, I think it actually gets funnier with every watch. Chevy Chase is just incredible.

So there we have it, the last debrief of 2022. I can’t wait to see where this year takes me…lots to look forward to and I’ll keep you updated every step of the way!
