My Clarins Skincare Range

I’ve been using Clarins for years now, and it all came about because my Mam swears by their products. I remember when I was younger I was looking for a decent foundation that 1- didn’t make me look like an Oompa Loompa and 2- gave me full coverage that lasted throughout the day. That’s when my Mam took me to Clarins and got me my first Everlasting Foundation – it’s been a constant in my make up bag ever since and I don’t know what I’d do without it.

Over the years I’ve purchased other bits and bobs of make up (their Supra Volume Mascara is also a must) and have tried various skincare products like the Pure Melt Cleansing Gel and the Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser, as well as various serums and moisturisers. For a while I seemed to be looking after my skin, but then late last year I completely fell out of my routine. I started just quickly using make up wipes or micellar water to take my make up off at night, wasn’t moisturising properly and to be honest – my skin has been an absolute mess ever since.

Early last month my Mam and I were having a little shopping trip and we ended up at our usual spot – the Clarins counter in Debenhams at The Bridges, Sunderland. I don’t think I’m even exaggerating when I say we’re in there probably at least once a week, certainly once a fortnight! Claire Savage and Deborah Cairns, who work on the counter, are two of the nicest ladies you’ll ever meet and are so passionate about the brand and their customers. Over the years they’ve spent so much time helping us choose the correct products for our skin, let us try samples of things that they think we’ll like and have treat us to facials too. We won’t buy our Clarins products from anyone other than them!

On this particular shopping trip, I’d spotted the new skincare collection that was on display – My Clarins. I asked Deborah for some info on the products and explained that I’d fallen out of my routine and wasn’t looking after my skin properly. She very kindly sat me down and used the new products on my face to see how they were and how I felt. The My Clarins range is designed for ladies under 30 so I was the perfect audience for it and with the slogan for the range being ‘Goodness In, Nasties Out’, it sounded exactly what I needed to fix my skin.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I felt like a new woman after testing the products, so obviously…I bought them!

I didn’t know at first that I’d be writing this blog post but, for my own curiosity, I took this photo on the 11th March, after I purchased products from the My Clarins range just to see how awful my skin was, and whether it would change once I got into a proper routine again.

Fast forward to the beginning of April when I took this second photo. In just 3 weeks my skin has cleared up quite a lot, I’m glowing and, you can’t tell from the photo, but my skin feels so soft and smooth – not dry and horrible like it did in that first photo!

Using the My Clarins products these past few weeks has made me feel so happy and I actually get excited to do my skincare routine each morning and night! My skin is glowing and looks (and feels) so healthy – which is exactly what Clarins wanted to achieve with this range.

The company believe that beautiful, healthy skin should only ever be a swipe away and with that in mind, created the new vegan skincare range – My Clarins. The range is full of healthy, natural ingredients which means that it can be used on any type of skin. The products use plant and fruit extracts such as goji berry, meadowsweet and tamarin (just to name a few) which help your skin soak up the good and banish the bad! My Clarins is also the only range to use the new Healthy Skin [In and Out] Complex which is made up of organic coconut water, Alpenrose extract and fig extract. It’s all about hydration, radiance and giving the skin a lovely glow.

I caught up with Claire to get more info about the range and talked through my routine, so let’s have a look at the skincare range and the products that I bought…

CLEANSER

For my cleanser, I chose the RE-MOVE Micellar Cleansing Milk and my goodness it’s amazing. It’s lightweight, super soothing and really hydrates the skin with immediate effect – I actually really look forward to using it morning and night because it makes my skin feel so good. You can use it all over your face, it’s gentle on the eyes and removes all make up and impurities so easily.

If you prefer to wash your face with a gel cleanser, then you might prefer the RE-MOVE Purifying Cleansing Gel from the range.

CLEAR-OUT

There is absolutely nothing worse than when you wake up and see that your face has been invaded by huge, red spots right? AWFUL. I’m terrible for getting breakouts so I was definitely going to purchase the CLEAR-OUT gel. The treatment helps speed up the healing process of blemishes, reducing redness and inflammation within a matter of days. It’s been an absolute life saver for me!

It’s one of the only products in the range that includes a man made ingredient – salisylic acid – which is what helps reduce the swelling.

BLUR AND MATTE

The PORE-LESS Blur and Matte Stick is also a great little product to have, especially if you suffer from shiny or oily skin. Pop this on your T-Zone after you’ve applied your moisturiser to blur and mattify any imperfections and your make up goes on so much easier afterwards! It’s infused with strawberry tree extract which smells incredible, as you can imagine.

HYDRATING MIST

Okay so the RE-FRESH Hydrating Beauty Mist has to be my favourite in the range- I’m talking heart eyes emoji x100 here girls! Infused with the Healthy Skin [In and Out] Complex, it’s the quickest fix for total hydration and also – it smells AMAZING! I genuinely feel instantly happier once I’ve used this.

Claire told me a really handy tip too: try keeping the mist in the fridge to make it extra cool and refreshing –  I’ll definitely be trying that in the summer!

SLEEP MASK

The RE-CHARGE Relaxing Sleep Mask is an overnight face mask made to hydrate and refuel your skin and brighten your complexion while you sleep. Before you head to bed, take a tiny bit of the sleep mask and rub it in your hands – Claire said warming the product up stimulates the plant-based formula – then press and massage gently across your face and neck. The good thing about the sleep mask is that it doesn’t leave your face feeling sticky and sinks straight in to quench your skin! It’s beautifully soothing and is great to detox and boost your skin. You can use it every night, or just a few nights a week as a treat for your face!

MOISTURISER

There are 3 different types of moisturisers in the My Clarins range: RE-BOOST Refreshing Hydrating Cream, RE-BOOST Comforting Hydrating Cream and RE-BOOST Matifying Hydrating Cream.

I’ve not actually purchased a moisturiser from the range yet as I’m still working my way through my Hydra-Essentiel cream, but I have actually been using samples of the Refreshing Hydrating Cream and I LOVE it! It’s a lovely light texture that is designed to balance normal skin and give all day hydration. It’s super smoothing, and I’ll definitely be making the switch over to this one once my current moisturiser is finished!

The Comforting Hydrating Cream is perfect if you’ve got dry/sensitive skin and in need of a little TLC. This one is richer in texture and really gets to work on nourishing and soothing your skin.

If you’ve got oily/combination skin, then the Matifying Hydrating Cream is what you’re looking for. It’s a gel-like texture with matifying powders to help instantly absorb oils and refine your skin texture!

The products are reasonably priced ranging from £15 – £24, and the packaging is eco-friendly, with boxes being made of cardboard derived from sustainably-managed forests.

Have you tried the My Clarins range yet or will you be giving it a go any time soon?

Let me know!
