Earlier this month Adam and I were invited along to a VIP evening at Master Debonair, the independent menswear retailer in East Boldon. The invite came through at the perfect time as we’d literally JUST been looking at suits that day ready for a wedding Adam is attending this summer – so we couldn’t wait to get there and have a look around!
Since it’s opening in 2016 the business, ran by husband and wife team Simon and Eve Whitaker, has been a huge success and they’ve even opened a second store in Spitalfields, London. Now, their flagship store on Station Terrace (just along from East Boldon Metro Station) has undergone its biggest development to date taking over the neighbouring building, allowing a £30,000 expansion!
By retaining many features of the Victorian building such as the original ceiling and hearth, the team at Master Debonair have managed to create a beautifully warm and welcoming space, with striking interior features thanks to Eve’s creative vision! They want customers to feel relaxed when they shop, which is why there’s now extra room for customers to sit down, charge their phones and even grab a complimentary hot drink.
Heads up – there’s also a secret beer tap hidden within the store and if you’re lucky enough to find it…you can help yourself to a bev! How cool is that?!
The expansion of Master Debonair not only allows them to continue showcasing and stocking their stunning suits, it also means that they can stock their new casual wear too. The next phase of the development, which is due to start in July, includes a renovation of the upstairs room to allow space for a private showroom, a gentleman’s lounge and even the opportunity to stock womenswear in the future which I can’t WAIT for!
From brogues to three-piece suits and everything in-between, Master Debonair has everything you need to get suited and booted for all occasions.
We had a wonderful time visiting the store, browsing the racks and even enjoyed complimentary pie and mash from The Pie & Bottle Shop and a lovely beer from Tyne Bank Brewery. I can’t wait to head back to Master Debonair, sit with a cuppa and watch as Adam tries on numerous suits!

Thanks so much to OPR and Master Debonair for the invitation x
