The first ever Angry Birds Adventure Golf course has opened at intu Metrocentre and Adam and I were so excited to be invited along for a game earlier this month, just after we’d visited the Arctic Experience. We both absolutely love mini/crazy golf and we’re both pretty competitive- there have been many times in our relationship already where we’ve fallen out playing games. Ok, I say ‘we’ but what I mean is that I’ve taken the huff because I’m a bad loser – oops!
Angry Birds Adventure Golf is located in the upper Qube, just next to Buffet King, and spans over both the upper and lower mall. There are two 18 hole courses to choose from on your visit- Bird Island and Pigtropolis! Both courses are full of fun obstacles and locations that will be familiar if you’ve watched The Angry Birds Movie 2.
When we arrived we were greeted by staff and were kindly given the option to grab a free drink so as designated driver I went for a Fanta while Adam went for a pint! Yep, the venue has a licence so it’s most certainly adult friendly *wink wink*! There’s also an option to grab a bite to eat on the upper level, and there’s a gift shop too. It’s honestly perfect for a family outing – especially with the Christmas holidays coming up!
First things first- you need to grab yourself a golf club, coloured ball and scorecard! There are different sized clubs to choose from and staff are on hand to help if you need to work out which is best for you.
Once you’ve got your equipment and you’ve chosen which course you’d like to play (we went for Bird Island) you step up to an introductory hole, which is located on the upper level, and ‘load your cargo into a crate’ to send to the course. You get to see this happening via a little video which kids will love! You’re then taken downstairs to your chosen course and there you’ll find your balls waiting for you on the first hole!
Up to 6 people can play at one time and the course is well spread out so that, even during busier times, you’re not all on top of each other and still have plenty of space to play.
Adam and I had so much fun working our way round the course and, obviously, we got pretty competitive! I somehow managed to get a hole-in-one on hole number 12 which I was absolutely buzzing about! Just after this at hole 13 you head through to a secret meeting place which is a UV themed area and is just like the sub-zero climate of Eagle Island. It’s great!
Staff are always on hand to help if you need them whilst making your way around, and there is also a bar on the lower level too.
We absolutely loved playing the game and I’m sure we’ll be back to try the Pigtropolis course too…mainly because Adam won Bird Island and I’m after a rematch!
Angry Birds Adventure Golf is open 10am-10pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am-11pm Friday to Saturday. Prices start from £6.95 and there are also group and family booking offers available.
I’d also definitely suggest booking online before you go, especially during peak times, to avoid disappointment!
Huge thank you to intu Metrocentre for a wonderful evening – we had so much fun!
